During this session we will outline the ever increasing challenges presented by changes to building codes and energy programs. We will discuss material and design choices and consumer expectations in creating high-performance buildings. We will focus on the science behind making walls more durable, safer and more energy efficient by utilizing exterior insulation without compromising cost effectiveness and build ability.

Learn the benefits of designing with structural insulated panels (SIPs) for residential applications. Builders/contractors and designers will gain a better understanding of application, assembly and detailing to properly use SIPs for optimal energy efficiency and durability. We will use case studies and share design strategies to give you a better understanding of designing and building with SIPs to current industry standards. In this session, we will share state-of-the-art strategies for a variety of foundation systems (including full basements, crawlspaces and frost-protected shallow foundation systems) to help maintain a dry comfortable home.
