High-performance enclosures: is the cavity-insulated 2x6 wall dead?

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The theory and motivation for the perfect enclosure are clear and simple-place structural elements to the interior where they remain warm and dry, then place the four control layers to the exterior in a way that will be robust, durable, and repairable. We’ll cover principles and best practices for building enclosures that go beyond codes for superior comfort, efficiency, durability, and indoor air quality. We’ll look at a project that uses a cost-effective “perfect wall” system to deliver zero energy ready home performance and discuss a structural system that simplifies and speeds construction, saving enough money to invest in high-performing exterior control layers.
